NADMO Coordinator justifies directive for employees to re-apply

Ho, June 12, Ghanadot/GNA - Mr Henry Ametefe, the Volta Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), on Friday justified a directive from the Regional Coordinating Council requesting staff of NADMO to reapply for recruitment into the Organization.

He said the directive was in accordance with the restructuring of the organization to “put it in proper position to perform the duties for which it was established.”

A letter signed by the Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Z. Amenowode, directed that administrative and finance staff, secretaries and others in the manpower/mobilization and operations departments including drivers and zonal coordinators should reapply by June 15.

The applicants are also to attach photocopies of their certificates and original letters of their appointment to the applications.

Mr Ametefe said the directive had become necessary in view of the calibre of personnel at the organization, many of whom he said do not have any document on their files.

He alleged that “a good number of employees at the organization either do not have any certificate, educational background or are using other people’s certificate to work”.

Mr Ametefe also claimed that others were “very political” and not ready to work as public servants while many more were working at two or more establishments.

He said the directive was therefore in the right direction to recruit qualified persons who could “read, write and go on disaster prevention and management campaign.”

Mr Ametefe said genuine applications would be considered and anyone who failed to re-apply has automatically dismissed him or herself.

Some employees of the organization who were given letters to re-apply have expressed their displeasure at the directive saying it is politically motivated.
