Accra, Aug 12,
Ghanadot - The Deputy Minister of Information, in an effort to
dismiss the assertion by some that there will be freeze on
employment, has said that there will be none.
This information was
disclosed to the press yesterday by the Deputy Minister, Mr
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Md. Ablakwa pointed
some institutions where vacancies even existed.
Institutions such as Ghana Statistical Services, Ministries of
Tourism, Chieftaincy, Education and Health have been asked by
government to employ more people.
This disclosure was
in response to the pressure put on government by groups such as
the Alliance for Accountability in Governance (AFAG).
In a recent
demonstration held by AFAG, the pressure group claimed, among
other things, that government was getting ready to put the
freeze on employment.
Mr. Ablakwa claimed
that government would be mounting full employment for
institutions such as health and education fields.
He also said that
government has introduced innovations into the employment market
that would result in more people being employed soon.
The National Service
Secretariat, Mr. Ablakwa said, has been instructed to recruit
230 research assistants from within the youth.
He said by the end of
the year the government would have imported 2000 tractors from
Brazil to support its "Youth in Agriculture" program.
