GIPC boss expresses shock after
the sack
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot
Accra, May 19, Ghanadot - The
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion
Center (GIPC), Robert Ahomka Lindsay has
confirmed that he has been relieved of his position
as the Chief Executive of the centre.
Speaking on Joy FM, Mr. Lindsay said he is humiliated and
confounded by circumstances surrounding his removal from
office yesterday. H
Mr.
Lindsay, who claimed he has
contributed his quota to
Ghana, also admitted that he was
highly disappointed he took the job.
“Let me be honest, I face a very difficult situation; I feel
devastated that I put my family through this; I feel
devastated that I have a situation where my children who
have nothing to do with my decision have been put in the
front page and I think that is a devastating testimony on
our society. I should never have accepted the role.”
The CEO, who was summoned to the castle early Monday,
was asked to leave his post with
an official announcement to follow from
the castle.
Though
the reason for his sack is not clear, recent media
reports of his conduct and treatment of some workers at the
center is speculated to be reason.
“I certainly hope dearly that those false lies were not the
basis of the decision-making… there’s been a couple of press
announcements, front-page, the most despicable front-page I
have seen, where my children were
named on the front-page of a newspaper, which is below the
belt in any format you can think of.“
Mr. Ahomka-Lindsay was called on from his lucrative UK job
to come and help grow Ghana’s investment drive, and “I
believe today the centre is beginning to show the
manifestation of a first class investment promotion agency”.
He denied accusations of living a life of pretension with an
authoritarian management style as told by his subordinates.
