Fuel price increased by 30%, CJA angry
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, June 5, Ghanadot - Fuel prices are expected to be adjusted 30% up across board. A litre of petrol is expected to sell at GH¢1.11 while a litre of diesel will sell at GH¢1.12.

The news comes days after the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) announced an upward review of the prices of petroleum products was inevitable.

Government had announced it was consulting with stakeholders in the private sector before any further increase in the prices of fuel.

The adjustment is expected to take effect from Saturday June 6, 2009.

The move has angered anti-fuel price hike pressure group, Committee for Joint Action (CJA) which had served notice earlier that its members may hit the streets if prices of petroleum products went up.

Bernard Mornah, a member of the group, told Citi FM moments after the news broke that all members of the CJA are “disappointed” at the action and would be meeting immediately to decide on what action to take.
