Rev. Anani Boadum: Deal with pastors who disgrace the
gospel
Audrey Agyiri-Inkoom, Ghanadot
Accra. Nov 30, Ghanadot - The General Overseer of the Jesus
Generations Sanctuary Church, also an executive member of the
Ghana Pentecostal Council, Rev. Nana Anyani Boadum, has called
on the Christian Council of Ghana to act swiftly and deal
decisively with some ‘Men of God’ and prophets who are
attracting negative publicity for the Church.
The man of God says “the Christian council is being too lenient
on these people” and until the council puts its acts together
“some people will continue to disturb the faith.”
He has therefore suggested that the council holds an emergency
meeting within the shortest possible time to strategize on how
best to deal with the unfortunate development.
“We need to have an emergency meeting to strategize and see how
best we can go about it. Look at the noise making in the
communities, these are worrying situations and the Christian
Council, the Ghana Pentecostal Council, and other Christian
bodies are behaving as if nothing is happening in this
country…We have become too lenient on these people.”
The Christian community has attracted negative publicity in
recent times following some controversial acts being perpetrated
by leaders and General overseers of some Churches in the
country.
In the latest of such developments, the General Overseer of the
International Godsway Church in Kumasi, Bishop Daniel Obinim was
on Saturday, November 28, invited to the Suame Police Station in
Kumasi to answer questions on an alleged plot to bury snakes and
bones suspected to be human parts at the church premises of a
rival pastor, Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom, at Ahenema
Kokoben, a suburb of Kumasi.
A complainant, Frank Annor, narrated to the Police that he was
contracted by Bishop Obinim last month to bury the bones and
some candles at the worship centre for a fee of GH¢4,000.
But according to Annor, Bishop Obinim failed to honour his part
of the contract. Annor, who was persistent in his attempt to get
his money, rather suffered attacks on his life which, he said,
made him report the matter to the police.
Commenting on the issue, Rev. Anyani Boadum described the
alleged incident as a shame and said the happening “places a
dent on the body of Christ in this country and erodes the
confidence of new believers.”
“You hear that these men of God do call on other deities to even
swear and curse one another. That betrays them that they may not
belong to Jehovah; if the allegations are proven to be true…we
need authentic Christian leaders to move this nation forward. We
don’t need pseudo prophets as frontline Christian leaders to try
to distort the work of evangelism and the missions for which
people have died and stood for. ” He added.
