NDC Supporters in Frenzy as election Result was Declared
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, Jan 3, Ghanadot - Ghana once again has shown the rest of the world that they are still very rooted in the building of democracy and the rule of law.  Just a while ago, another history was written as the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) candidate Professor Evans Atta Mills was declared the next president of Ghana.

Just after the declaration, GhanaDot went to town to verify how people took the results of the elections. At Nima, a suburb of Accra , a crowd went agog with pleasure when the Electoral Commission (EC) announced the winner of the 2008 general election.

People were seen in their NDC party colours all over town chanting the slogan of the party "yeresesamu" (meaning change). Others were also  grouped around TV and radios, busy trying to get information from the EC office about the election.

Supporters of the NDC as at now have flown to the party headquarters in Accra to show their leaders how happy they are for their party to emerge the winner of this year's election.

In an interview with GhanaDot, supporters of the party claim, they have waited for a long time for this news and that they are very glad that the EC was able to declare the result in peace.

According to them, they are sure that the NDC will do a good job by ensuring that the nation and its people are well taken care of. They were sure that though a lot of work needs to be done, the NDC will make the development of the nation its priority.

"We are very happy for this day, once again we as a country have shown the rest of the world that we can do it and we have done it peacefully. We have been able to elect another party to lead us without any problems. I know that NDC will do a good job and I must say that was why I voted for them". One happy supporter said.

Meanwhile, the same mood could not be declared for the supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as reports came in to say that some were locked up in their rooms, others were seen going about their duties in a rather sad mood.

Some told GhanaDot that they were not expecting things to go as they went, but they had nothing to do than to accept the results. Others were sure that the NPP wouldl come back to power the next four years.
