NPP solicits massive votes for Party in Fomena
Akrokerri (Ash), Jan. 19, GNA– Mr Peter Mac Manu, the
National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on
Thursday appealed to the electorate to vote massively for
the party in the forthcoming by-election for the Fomena
constituency seat.
He said “I am certain that NPP will win on Tuesday”, at a
mini rally at Akrokerri-Bobriase to introduce Nana Abu
Bonsra, the party’s parliamentary candidate to the people.
Mr Mac Manu said, “We are here to appeal to you to vote
massively for NPP to bring you development and progress’’
and appealed to the electorate to also extend their goodwill
to the party in the next general election.
The NPP National Chairman said he was confident that NPP
would win more parliamentary seats in the 2008 elections.
The General Secretary of the party, Nana Ohene Ntow, said
the government had done a lot to improve the socio-economic
state of the country adding that the revival of the cocoa
industry alone was a big plus to the Kufuor-led NPP
government.
Nana Ntow asked the people not to allow themselves to be
deceived by disgruntled politicians who had nothing to offer
the country.
Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the Chief Executive of
Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, and an NPP presidential
aspirant, said NPP was the best party in the country and
appealed to the people to support the party at all times.
He urged the people to register with the National Health
Insurance Scheme (NHIS), saying, “Do not allow anybody to
deceive you not to register with the scheme”.
Mr Kofi Tieku, 2004 independent parliamentary candidate for
the Fomena constituency, who had announced his return to the
party, appealed to his supporters to vote for the NPP.
Mr Tieku said he did not have bad intentions about the NPP
when he left it to contest for the seat as independent
candidate.
He said “I want you all to vote this time for Nana Abu
Bonsra, even more than the votes you gave me in 2004”.
Mr Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for
Akrofuom gave the assurance that the road from Akrokerri
through Bobriase to Kyeaboso would definitely be tarred by
the NPP government.
The party had earlier in the day introduced Nana Abu Bonsra
to the Akrokerri Training College community where the party
officials including MPs from Bosomtwe and Denkyira took
turns to address the students.
