Tema CEPS mobilizes 9.9 trillion cedis
in 2006
Tema, Jan. 20, GNA – Personnel of the Customs Excise and
Preventive Service (CEPS) in Tema mobilized 9.9 trillion
cedis revenue last year, representing 90 per cent of its
target estimated at about 11 trillion cedis.
Alhaji M.M. Nasirudeen, Sector Commander said this was
achieved through their ‘collective resolve not to compromise
in revenue mobilisation and therefore, recovered
short-collections and penalties amounting to 39.4 billion
cedis and covered other areas that have been sources of
revenue leakage’.
He announced this at the end-of year get-together and awards
night for the personnel at Tema on Friday.
Alhaji Nasirudeen attributed their achievement to hard work,
diligence, alertness, professionalism and was optimistic
they would rededicate themselves and redouble their efforts
to ensure they exceeded the target for this year.
However, he assured the personnel of management’s support by
providing them with better working conditions and congenial
environment to improve their performance to the satisfaction
of customers and stakeholders.
Alhaji Nasirudeen commended the Management and staff of
GCNet for partnering the service in their efforts to
increase revenue mobilisation and hoped this collective
effort would lead to a reduction or elimination of
activities by detractors to cheat the State.
Mr Emmanuel Doku, Commander of CEPS in an address read on
his behalf, commended the personnel at Tema for their
collection that represented about 11 per cent of the
national collection for 2006.
He called for an improvement in the performance of the
personnel by being punctual and be professional in their
work.
Mr David Quaye Annang, Tema Municipal Chief Executive,
commended the award winners and advised the personnel to be
guided by the principles of their work to improve their
performance.
