Ga Manste Nii Tackie Tawiah III honours Anerhor chief
Accra, April 01, Ghanadot/GNA – Nii
Tackie Tawiah III, Ga Mantse, on Monday held a mini durbar
at the Ga Mantse’s Palace in Accra in honour of Togbe
Ahawoto Savado Zankli Lawson VIII, the visiting Chief of
Anerhor in Togo.
The Anerho clan, according to history, is made up of people
of the Ga State who settled in Togo in the 16th century due
to protracted conflicts.
The chiefs were dressed in beautiful traditional regalia to
portray the rich culture of Ghana and for that matter the
Gas at the ceremony that was characterised by pomp and
pageantry amidst musketry.
The visit is to reciprocate an earlier one by the Ga Mantse
to Togo last year to establish a strong bond between the two
communities.
The Ga Mantse said the Ga State was gradually developing in
all aspects and entreated the citizens to protect the peace
and harmony it was enjoying.
"The Ga State is well and is growing from strength to
strength," he added, and urged the people to work together
to ensure that it remained united.
Togbe Lawson called for a strong partnership for the
development of the two communities.
"We are back to our roots and our oneness that existed since
the creation of the world has come back.”
Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye, Greater Accra Regional
Minister, lauded the initiative and said it would help to
harness development among the two communities.
The Ga Traditional Council presented Togbe Lawson with a
mural on which was inscribed: “A dancing Chief” and he in
turn gave the Ga Mantse a wooden art symbolising the unity
and oneness of the African continent.
