President Kufuor leaves for G8 summit
Accra, July 5, Ghanadot/GNA- President
John Agyekum Kufuor, on Friday left Accra for Toyako-Hokkaido,
Japan, to attend this year's Group of Eight (G8) summit that
takes place from July 7th to 9th, 2008.
Also expected at the summit are Presidents Umaru Yar' Adfua
of Nigeria, Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, Avdelaziz Bouteflika
of Algeria, Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, Jakaya Kikwete of
Tanzania and Prime Minister Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia.

Person and Press Secretary to the President, said topics
expected to be discussed during the summit are the world
economy, environment and climate change, the global food
crisis, stabilization of the financial market and achieving
the millenium Challenge Goals.
It said the Zimbabwean political situation, Iran's nuclear
ambitions as well as Middle East peace efforts and terrorism
would also feature prominently during the summit.
President Kufior has had three previous appearances at the
G8 summit with the most recent in 2007 Heiligendamm G8
Summit as the African Union Chairman.
At the airport to see President Kufuor off were the Vice
President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, ministers of state, and senior
military and police personnel.
