Street Academy to undertake
annual Sponsored Walk
Accra, July 20, GNA – The Street Academy, a non-governmental
organisation involved with the upkeep and care of children
has appealed to Ministers of State, Parliamentarians and
international dignitaries to join it in its Annual Sponsored
Walk.
The Street Academy’s Annual Sponsored Walk which is aimed at
creating awareness about the plight of the less privileged
children in the society is expected to take place on
Saturday, July 28.
Ms Joanna Darkoa Ofori, Project Development Co-ordinator of
Street Academy in a release copied to the GNA Sports said
the Brigade Fit Club is hosting this year’s programme which
is under the theme, “Right of Education for the Less
Fortunate”.
She said the Walk will start from the Hearts of Oak training
grounds near the Arts Centre through the principal streets
of Osu, Circle and Accra Central and back to the Hearts
Park.
Ms Ofori said the Walk is also to afford the public the
chance of interacting with the children who are mostly
displaced children fending themselves on and off the streets
and to reassure them that the society cares about their
plight.
She appealed to the general public to join the children in
this Walk to give them some hope of their survival and to
make them to feel not neglected.
