The passing of Dr. Narku
Nortey
Engineer, inventor and holder of many patents. (The
following is an obituary; as written by Lancaster-on-Line)
January 22, 2016
Dr. Narku O. Nortey, 70, of Lancaster, entered into rest on
Thursday, October 15, 2015 at home. Born in Ghana, West
Africa, he was the son of the late Okwei Mensah and Regina
Martei. Nak was the loving husband of Carol Nortey.
Dr. Nortey came to the United States over 40 years ago to
further his education and earned his BS, MS, and PhD in
Mechanical Engineering. He holds five patents in mechanical
machinery, a remarkable achievement. He was employed by ACI
Services, Inc. where he designed compressor products for
mechanical and industrial engineering.
Dr. Nortey was the founder of the United African
Association, to bring Africans together to develop Africa so
that they can become self-sufficient. Nak loved his family
and enjoyed teaching others. In his spare time, he enjoyed
playing the stock market.
In addition to his wife, Carol, Nak is survived by four
children: Crystal Gallagher of Dover, PA; Sherri Bostic of
York, PA; Mensah Nortey of Lancaster, PA; and Kai Sowell of
Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by four grandchildren:
Sarah, Deja, Vaughn, and Chance.

Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz
Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment was at Landis Valley
Cemetery.
