Prosports opens a branch in Ghana

Accra, April 12, GNA – Prosport International - a leading sports agency management company has opened a branch in Ghana with the primary objective of signing and representing top Ghanaian footballers as well as scouts for young and talented football players.


The branch, which is to be known as Prosport International – Ghana, is a joint venture with Herbert Mensah, former Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.


Announcing this at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, Mr Mike Maakab, a Director of Global Football for Prosport said his outfit is delighted to have a joint partnership with Herbert Mensah, whom he described as a leading figure in Ghanaian football circles and shares the same vision and objectives with the company.


The Director said the partnership is to ensure effective management of football careers of the vastly talented footballers in Ghana and Africa in general.


Mr Makaab added that the decision to move to Ghana is to keep the objectives of the company, maintain its market share in the football player management industry to remain at the forefront as the leading sports agency and Management Company in Southern Africa and to expand its markets into the rest of Africa.


“We believe that our company’s strategy of expanding into Africa can only sustain our existing business interest in Southern Africa and Europe as more and more footballers are successfully developed and prepared to enter the European market”.


Mensah on his part expressed satisfaction with the venture, which he described as a serious and established company in the field of sports’ agency and management.


He said the venture is to sign on and represent top Ghanaian players and explore new talents adding: “We intend to achieve this by combining the strong and local knowledge and network which we have in Ghana with the professional approach to sports agency and management which Prosport will bring to the table”.


Propsort has a network of offices situated in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, England and Greece as well as associated offices in Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe.


The company has succeeded in placing players in the top leagues of England, Greece, Denmark, Israel and Turkey among others.
