Black Stars drop nine places on FIFA
ranking
Accra, April 18, GNA – Ghana’s Black Stars have dropped nine
places on this month’s Coca Cola FIFA ranking released on
Wednesday.
The Stars slipped from the 19th spot they occupied last
month to 28th, after losing 0-1 to former World Champions,
Brazil in Stockholm, Sweden.
The African World Cup debutantes, who made the round of 16
with victories over Czech Republic and the USA occupied an
all time high ranking of 19th before the latest release.
The Ghanaians, before the Brazil game, drew one all away
with Austria.
This is the second time in four months that the team has
been ranked at same position.
Ghana finished the year 2006 on 28.
The Stars dropped two places on the African ladder.
Ranked second behind Cameroon last month, Ivory Coast and
Nigeria overtook Ghana in the current rankings.
The West Africans became the biggest movers in the ranking
after the World Cup when they moved 23 places up, from the
48th position to the 25th.
