Ghana slumps again in FIFA rankings

Accra, Oct 24, Ghanadot/GNA - Ghana has slumped two places on the latest world football rankings released by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Tuesday, October 24.

Ghana are now placed tenth a point down from the ninth position in September on the African continent, two poorer than Group A opponents, Morocco who lie at the 8th position.

In September, Ghana were at the 45th position at the world rankings but dropped to the 47th position in October.

The slip of the Black Stars continued with a downward drop to 39 points from the last rankings in September to finish with 632 points.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports indicates that the downward slip of the Black Stars may be basically due to inactivity. Ghana's last international game with Saudi Arabia recorded a disastrous 0-5 mauling.

Ghana, host of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations has struggled to progress on the table due to inactivity on the international scene and lack of participation in the competition's qualifiers as host of the biennial fiesta that pieces the continent's best 16 teams together.

The Stars are pitted alongside the North Africans, Guinea- Africa's third best and Namibia who are ranked 25th in Africa in the group that will be based in Accra at the Ohene Djan Sports stadium, one of the quartet venues for the tourney.
