Honeysett wins GCB Golf championship

Accra, Nov. 19, GNA - Stuart Honneysett scored 43 points to win this year's Ghana Commercial Bank Limited Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

Honeysett who played 21 Back and 22 Front with a Handicap of 18, will be playing to a new Handicap of 16.

Little Castangna took the second position with 41 points, beating L.A. Ayisah and Alan Ashworth on count-back while Patrick Nukunu placed fifth with 40 points, beating Dickson Keteku on count-back.

Annnette Horsman became the proud winner of the Ladies event with 43 points followed by Beatrice Hampton at second position with 40 points while Janet Sinclair took the third position with 38 points beating Suzzie Abaloo-Kumasah on count-back with E. Lomans placing fifth with 36 points.

About 120 amateur golfers participated in the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition.

Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, commended the Bank for sponsoring the competition.

He appealed to the Bank to introduce and support the Professionals event in the competitions and also asked the Bank to consider the sponsorship of the 2007 Accra Open Championship.

Mr Lawrence Newton Adu Mante, Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank Limited on behalf of the Bank presented a cheque of 20 million cedis to the Achimota Golf Club.
