President abhors treatment of offending drivers at military mortuary

Accra, July 11, Ghanadot/GNA – Mr. Andrew Awuni, Presidential Spokesperson and Press Secretary to the President has said President John Agyekum Kufuor abhorred the behaviour of military men who are said to have ordered a number of offending drivers to arrange dead bodies at the 37 Military Hospital mortuary.

"The behaviour is simply unacceptable and cannot be endorsed by government," he said.

Speaking to journalists at the airport, Mr Awuni said the country was governed by rules under the constitution, adding that these rules had to be respected at all times, irrespective of the offence of any person.

He said President Kufuor endorsed the decision by the military hierarchy to investigate the matter, in order to bring military personnel who are guilty of the offence to book.
