German President Köhler to
visit Ghana early next January
Accra, Nov. 30, GNA - The President of the
Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Horst Köhler
would pay an official visit to Ghana from
January 11 to January 14 2007.
A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
on Thursday said the visit was to consolidate
the existing bonds of friendship and partnership
between Ghana and Germany.
The statement said his wife, Eva Luise, as well
as high-ranking officials of the German Federal
Government and civil society would accompany the
German President.
President Köhler would hold talks with his host,
President John Agyekum Kufuor after, which they
would host the Second African Forum from January
12 to January 14 at the Kofi Annan International
Peacekeeping Training Centre.
The statement said bilateral talks would focus
on issues of mutual interest aimed at
strengthening economic cooperation and
partnership between the two countries,
especially with regard to the Ghana Government's
development agenda.
The German President would pay a courtesy call
on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the
Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and visit the Kumasi
Centre for Collaborative Research and the Kwame
Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
